Als jemand, der schon seit einigen Jahren alles im Regal stehen hat, was der englischsprachige Buchmarkt an Textversionen diesseits und jenseits des Atlantiks zu bieten hat - die ersten Bücher las ich natürlich noch in deutscher Übersetzung, aber das ist schon lange her - bin ich vorallem daran interessiert zu erfahren, ob irgendwann damit zu rechnen ist, daß auch die Zeitschriftenversionen der Kurzgeschichten, die sich ja mitunter doch von den Buchfassungen unterscheiden sollen, mal wiederveröffentlicht werden. Ich denke da vorallem auch an die Kurzgeschichten, die für 'The Big Four' gesammelt - und meines Wissens doch auch merklich bearbeitet - worden sind sowie an die Poirot-Versionen von 'The Regatta Maystery' (kleines Zitat übrigens in der 'Poirot'-Biographie von Anne Hart - allerdings nur in der englischsprachigen Ausgabe) sowie 'Problem at Pollensa Bay'. Letztere Erzählung kann ich mir gar nicht so recht mit Poirot vorstellen, die Geschichte ist doch ein allzu typisches Parker-Pyn-Problem, oder sollte Poirot etwa auch die Pynes hübsche Assistentin zu sich nach Mallorca beordern, wirklich kaum denkbar!

Nun ja, ich sehe schon, die Beteiligung im Forum ist etwas mau, dennoch hoffe ich, daß sich über kurz oder lang ein gleichfalls erfahrener Christie-Leser meldet.
Vielleicht kann ich als Information an den einen oder anderen Leser ja mal kurz die Zeitschriftenversions-Thematik ein wenig vertiefen. Inwieweit sich generell diese Erstabdrucke von den in Büchern gesammelten Kurzgeschichten unterscheiden, kann ich nicht beurteilen. Darüberhinaus gibt eine Menge Nachdrucke der Buchversionen in Zeitschriften, z.T. auch unter anderen Titeln (insbesondere in 'Ellery Queens Mystery Magazin'), dort ist natürlich keine Textänderuing zu erwarten.
In der (älteren) Sekundärliteratur wird oft auch angegeben, daß es sich bei 'The Thelf of the Royal Ruby' [US-Titel] und 'The Adventure of the Christmas Pudding' [UK-Titel] um leicht unterschiedliche Versionen handeln könnte, dies ist nicht richtig, da beide identisch sind. Allerdings gibt es die frühe Zeitschriftenversion 'Christmas Adventure', die aber mittlerweile im letzten Christe-Band 'While the Light Last' (1997) abgedruckt wurde.
Ein ähnlich mysteriöser Fall ist '(The Adventure of) the Crime in Cabin 66'. Mittrlerweile findet man präzise Angaben, daß die Kurzgeschichte identisch mit 'Problem at Sea' bzw. eine leicht veränderte Version derselben ist. Tatsächlich wird in der bekannten Version keine Kabinennummer genannt, dies könnte darauf hindeuten, daß 'The Crime in Cabin 66' tatsächlich nicht ganz identisch mit 'Problem at Sea' sein könnte.
Ganz sicher gibt es die Poirot-Version von 'The Regatta Mystery': So schreibt Anne Hart in 'Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot': A problem solved with much dispatch in 'Poirot and the Regatta Mystery (... this is a surprising first cousin of an earlier short story (...), in which Parker Pyn solved an identical case), a short story first published in 1943, was the disappearance before all eyes of a famous diamond, 'the Morning Star', at a yachting party in Darthmouth. (p. 86)
Anne Hart zitiert auch einen kleinen Dialogfetzen: 'Will you call again in three days' time? I think the whole thing will be quiete satisfactorily cleared up by then.' - 'Are you joking, M. Poirot?' - 'I never joke on professional matters,' said Poirot with dignity. 'This matter is serious. Shall we say Friday at 11.30?'
Allein der kurze Vergleich dieser kleinen Szene mit der Parker-Pyne-Version zeigt, daß nicht nur der Name ausgetauscht wurde: '(...) Will you call again in three days' time? I think the whole thing will be quiete satisfactorily cleared up by then.' - 'Are you joking, Mr. Parker Pyne?' - 'I never joke on professional matters, my dear Sir. Anne Hart kennt aber wohl keine Poirot-Version von 'Pollensa-Bay', Charles Osborne scheint in 'The Life and Crims of Agatha Christie' einerseits nicht mal die Poirot-Version von 'The Regatta Mystery' zu kennen, da er auf S. 212 zu 'Poirot Lends a Hand' schreibt: two of the stories, 'The Regatta Mystery' and 'Problem at Pollensa Bay' are also to be found in 'The Regatta Mystery', womit er die US-Ausgabe von 1939 meint, die aber die Parker-Pyne-Versionen enthält. Andererseits liest man aber auf S. 366: (...) the sixty-four-page booklet, Poirot Lends a Hand, which contained three (!!!) Poirot stories

Auf Campells Vorschlag hin und mit seiner Hilfe stückelte Agatha sie zusammen. (Aus der Biographie von Janet Morgan, ähnliches liest man auch in Agatha Christies Selbstbiographie)
